Home sweet home!

We made it home Tuesday evening at about 6:30. The internet at home is not functioning properly so I stopped by the library.
I just got out of the dentist office and half my face is numb.
Its great to be home. We picked up our puppies from the sitter yesterday. They look like they grew a little bit. Ski tastes as good as I remember. Indiana is as hot as I remember.
Gonna go get my books-school starts monday, and then sleep until I can feel my face again. B

Eastern Colorado looks alot like Kansas

Its 1 A.M. we just got into a really nice Quality inn in Salina, Kansas. We were on the road from about 11:30 this morning. Super tired and ready to get home. Kansas has alot of nothing. Jessica asked me why Dorothy wanted to get back to Kansas so bad. I had no answer. I guess it was probably that her own bed was there.
Nothing more to say tonight. The GPS says 10 more hours driving to get home tomorrow. I cant wait. B

bufalo, geysers, and dirt roads, oh my!

We are in Rawlins, Wyoming tonight. Went through yellowstone today. Saw some geysers, saw some buffalo runnin down the street, and lots of great scenery. Jessica took 300 and somethin pictures. I dont know how many I took. It was a long day in the car. We took alot of state highway and there was a whole lot of road work. We had to go through many miles where they had road torn up to packed dirt and gravel. It made for some slow travel.
Im ready to get home. The rest of the world really doesnt know what there missing by not having ski. I cant wait to get home and drink a ski. MMMMM..delicious ski.
Im tired, think thats enough for tonight. Out B.

It gets COLD at night in yellowstone!

We made it to the west entrance to yellowstone today. About 7 hours of uneventful driving. Im very grateful for that. Not gonna write too much. Im not sure whose internet Im on. We are staying at tiny motel with teeny rooms and it reminds me of several horror movies. I allready turned the T.V. on and there are no channels with me, so I guess it's safe.
One thought of the day. There is a town in Idaho called Bliss. When I saw the first sign I said "It's a nice place to visit, but you can never stay there". Then when we got to the highway exit it was closed, So even f you know where bliss is ,sometimes you cant get there, and if you do you probably wont get back again.
Weve got a good list of liscense plates going(10 or 15 states). Will try to make Colorado tomorow. Will write more later B.

We finally made it out of Oregon!

Woke up in Boise this morning. 5 hours sleep, still on the first cup of coffee, and using the lobby computer. However, I am very grateful to be on the way home.
Yesterday was nuts! When we found out the Cutlass was ready and wanted to go get it, The nova wouldn't start. We pull started a 72 nova with a strap and a jeep cheroke! That seemed pretty scary at the time. I had no idea what the day had in store for us.
We got the cutlass back, hooked up the nova with the custom tow package and it was not good. It drug around corners and looked like it might roll the front tires off the wheels, wobbled and pushed(It honestly made me sick to my stomach, now I was scared) Not gonna stop us though, we put it on a friends tow dolly to see how that worked. It worked well.
Ok, at this point we decide to go to U-haul and rent a tow dolly. The first U-haul had none. Not gonna stop us! The second U-haul had none. They made a reservation for us at another place 30 miles away.
So when try to go pick it up the truck we were in wouldnt start. The starter was totally done. It was at this point that we decided the universe had been speaking pretty loudly all day about pulling this car, and maybe we should listen. We decided to drive the cutlass back alone. We had to help our friend get his truck home though, so I got to Pilot a full size chevy(lifted, big tires all that) while it being pulled by the jeep. There were some good hilly, curvey roads and Im doing the braking for both of us. Scary at first, then kinda fun.
Allright, we pack the cutlass and hit the road. I mean it just had $3,000 of work done, smooth sailing right? We got about 20 miles when we heard a great squeal from under the hood. We pulled over on I-84 just between Portland and Gresham( not a place you want to park)and the alternator belt was all wraped around the fan.(scared again, in case your wondering)We found a parts store after a garage that said"You got 10 minutes for me to do an hour job",and a jiffy lube that wanted $70. We bought a belt for$5 and put it on in parking lot. Went back in and bought an extra and the stomped all the way to Boise.
Hope to stop earlier tonight, more time to write. Out for now, B

lets get to the fun part.

It's Wednesday afternoon, at the library in Vancouver, Wa. for the internet access. We just talked to the garage that has the car we are supposed to be driving back. They hope to have resurfaced heads back by the end of day today, which would get us the car on Thursday. So Friday looks like the probable departure date. Im trying to remain optimistic and believe that things will work out, but If they run much longer on this repair I dont know what happens.
We spent half the day on the coast yesterday before driving back. Had a good time, and got alot of good pictures. I collected some rocks and driftwood to bring home.
Im trying to put up some pictures from yesterday. Im ready to get on the road. I plan to take lots of pictures. I also want to try to keep track of all the different states license plates that we see. My Grandpa used to keep a little notebook in the glove box on our yearly trip to florida. He kept track of all the states, we even had binoculars to make it easier. Ill probably try to get some kind of souvenir from all the states too, Some fridge magnets or somethin stupid like that
It looks like I might not get the pictures up today. Dont know why but it doesn't seem to be working. Yeah, I give up, no pics today. Hope to know more soon, Ill try again tomorrow. B.
Oh look at that, a picture popped up as I was ready to post this. That's me and Betty at the coast, we had a good time, but she didn't have much to say.

Its monday night 11:00 just got back from a walk on the beach. Were In Depot Bay, Or. Had a good day yesterday and today. Went to the company picnic for the place I worked when I lived in Portland. It was cool, got to see a lot of people I havent seen or talked to in two years.
We drove to the coast today in a rented charger. Stopped at a weird little pirate themed shopping center and grabbed some wooden boobies!(see picture please). Then went to the Oregon Coast aquarium. Took one picture so Kristen could rest assured that they are working hard to replace the rockfish she ate last night.
Then we had dinner at an awesome place overlooking the coast. Got back to the hotel around 9:00.
Its about a block and a half to the beach access, which was a staircase 80 steps long. The beach was beautiful, unfortunately the line of hotels along the top put an obnoxious amount of artificial light out on the beach. I tried to walk until I got out of the light, but I knew I had those 80 steps to go back up to get back to my room. I did enjoy gettin out by the water though. The ocean always puts me in my place. Its an amazing force thats been there longer than any humans and will be there longer. What ever made people decide to just sail out into something that they had no idea how big it was, or what was on the other side?
Anyway, Im gettin tired and ramblin. We should know tomorrow about the car and when the official start of the journey is. Im going to go to sleep now and try to get up early and go to the beach again. P.S. I really did take all these pictures myself, some of them look like postcards, huh? more tomorrow B.
